MEETING AND SUBMISSION DATES FOR APPLICATIONS TO THE SOCIAL
SCIENCES HREC
FULL ETHICS COMMITTEE APPLICATIONS
Applications must be received by the submission date in order to
be assessed at the next meeting (i.e. January 29 is the submission
deadline for the meeting on February 15). Applications received
after a submission date will be assessed at the following month’s
meeting. Submission dates are set 2 weeks before the meeting in
order to provide the committee members with adequate time to review
the applications before the meeting date.
Please note that there is no ethics committee meeting in January.

MINIMAL RISK APPLICATIONS
The above submission and meeting dates do not apply to Minimal Risk
applications as these are assessed by the Chair of the Social Science
HREC on behalf of the full committee. Minimal Risk applications
may be submitted at any time.
Once the Chair has assessed the Minimal Risk application (usually
within 5 -10 days), you will receive an email from her containing
any revisions that may be required before ethics approval can be
granted, or she will inform you of immediate ethics approval.

A hard copy of the application and supporting documents must also
be submitted to: Marilyn Knott, Private Bag 1, Hobart 7001.
