Transferring Funding

Transfers: Investigators arriving at the University

When an investigator is to commence employment at the University and wish to transfer an existing contract, please complete the Transfer In Form (21KB word doc). The Office of Research Services will liaise with the investigator and consider the obligations in the contract, the investigator’s preference and input from the Head of School. Information requested include:

  • a copy of the application and contract and confirmation by the Head of School s/he is willing and able to accept the project and funding
  • any outstanding reports/milestones and any requirements to change the reporting dates
  • any other relevant information.

The Office of Research Services then arranges for the contractual funds to be accepted by the new organisation and to arrange the transfer of the funds and the contract.

Transfers: Investigators leaving the University

If you are planning on leaving the University and hold an active grant, please complete the Notification of Intent to move (94KB word doc) and forward it to the Grants Officer for your School. The Office of Research Services will liaise with the investigator and consider the obligations in the contract, the investigator’s preference and input from the Head of School. Information requested include

  • whether the project will go with them to their new job; if so what are the consequences for any UTAS candidates that might be supported through this project
  • who will manage the project if it is staying with the University; what are the changed roles of the other investigators
  • any outstanding reports/milestones and any requirements to change the reporting dates
  • any other relevant information.
