The NH&MRC awards the University of Tasmania funds for Equipment
Grants each year.
The NH&MRC has clearly defined objectives in regards to the purpose of awarding Equipment Grant funding, which are:
- The need for Institutions to be strategic in the purchase of larger items of equipment that will benefit health and medical research in Australia
- Institutions are encouraged to support equipment that will be used collaboratively
- Where possible, Australian-made equipment should be purchased
While considering these objectives, the NH&MRC requires the following criteria to be met when making decisions on the equipment to be supported:
- The equipment should support high quality health and medical
research, as supported by the NH&MRC (or other competitive
support)
- Consideration to the lack of access to similar equipment in
the institution or region
- The collaborative gain through the use of the equipment eg –
multi-user equipment which crosses disciplines, research groups
and departments.
The process of funding allocations is managed by the Menzies Research
Institute. Please contact Mark
Bennett (x7701).
