Question

What you should do

Can I submit an application/tender myself?
  • No, responsibility for research grants and consultancies are PVCR.
  • In order to ensure the PVCR is properly informed, staff at the Office of Research Services need to have sufficient time to check the documentation and obtain the signature
Does it matter if University of Tasmania is not the administrating institution?
  • No, but your HOS needs to be aware of the activity in which you are involved.
  • You should complete the Submission Form, obtain the HOS signature and lodge a copy of the application with the Office of Research Services. When it is successful, if there are funds to be transferred to the University of Tasmania we can assist by preparing the contract.
  • Consider also if there is a need for ethics clearance
Will I need to purchase equipment, computers and/or software?
  • You should consult the finance and business services if you wish to purchase foreign exchange
  • Does the source of funds allow for the purchase of equipment and what are the funding body conditions attached to the purchase of equipment.
  • Don’t forget to have your equipment noted on the Assets Management system
