The University of Tasmania is a member of a limited group of Australian and New Zealand universities who all paid a joining fee and established the web site entitled fIRST (for Improving Research Supervision and Training) several years ago.

The purpose of the consortium is to offer on-line education and training for graduate research supervisors.

Now that there are some very useful materials, case studies, information on graduate research supervision and outlines for school training sessions on this site, the Members of the Board of Graduate Research have agreed to provide the user name and password to any University of Tasmania registered graduate research supervisor who wishes to undertake their own professional development by accessing this site.

We hope you will find the activities useful.

Registered graduate research supervisors will need to obtain a username and password before logging into fIRST for the first time. To obtain your username and password please email your details, including your UTAS registered supervisor number, to Secretary.BGSR@utas.edu.au.

As there are a number of universities who have not made a financial contribution to belong to this consortium, we require that the user name and password remain confidential.
