Potential Candidates

Intellectual Property

Candidates are required to assign their Intellectual Property to the University where the proposed project falls into one of the following categories:

  1. The University will make a special contribution of funding, resources, facilities or apparatus, (over and above what the University is generally obliged to provide), to enable that research to take place; or
  2. Significant University Intellectual Property will be utilised in the course of the research; or
  3. The Project will receive external funding OR othe in-kind support (eg access to background or third party Intellectual Property, equipment, data, infrastructure etc) and the University or an external party requires an assignment of the intellectual property rights it can comply with the conditions of funding.

If an assignment of Intellectual Property is required the Graduate Research Office will advise the candidate at the appropriate time. For more information about Intellectual Property at the University of Tasmania please read the Intellectual Property Policy.

Note: If advised that assignment of Intellectual Property is required, a candidate is required to complete and sign two original Deeds of Assignment.

 

Current Candidates

Research Plan

The Research Plan provides the blueprint for a candidate’s higher degree by research. Doctoral candidates must submit the completed plan within the first 6 months (equivalent full time) and Masters candidates must submit the completed plan within the first 4 months (equivalent full-time).

Confirmation of Progression of Candidature

The confirmations of progression of candidature process allows the University to assess academic development, performance and other aspects of candidature such as the appropriateness and availability of resources, and the suitability of the supervisory team to ensure the candidate completes their project.
