The Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) is responsible to the Animal Ethics Committee for ensuring that the University meets all standards, guidelines and regulations in regard to the care and supervision of animals used in teaching and research.
The AWO is a veterinarian and provides advice to the AEC, staff and students on requirements and responsibilities associated with the care, housing, maintenance and welfare of animals and provides clinical diagnostic and treatment services for animals
The AWO is an ex officio member of the Animal Ethics Committee and provides advice on the review of all applications for animal ethics approval.
If you need any advice during the preparation of your AEC application or during your experiment, the AWO is available to help.
